Wendy Lipton-Dibner, M.A. Professional Bio
Wendy received her bachelor’s degree in sociology at Southern Connecticut State College (now University), then entered the PhD program at Duke University where she studied sociology, social psychology, psychology, and social research.
In her first two years at Duke, Wendy conducted, published, and presented several research studies, including a master’s thesis on the causative relationship of social class, attachment to school, and delinquent involvement. Her research revealed results previously unseen in the literature.
While presenting her research at an academic conference, Wendy was recruited to manage a major research study at Texas Christian University. She took a leave of absence from Duke and moved to Fort Worth, Texas.
Six months later, the one-year grant was expanded to three and she agreed to stay on as Research Manager at the newly created Center for Organizational Research and Evaluation Studies. Over the next three years, Wendy taught sociology at Texas Christian University and managed multiple evaluation studies of enterprise, education, non-profit, and healthcare organizations. In addition, Wendy published several academic articles, produced global academic forums, and presented research findings at high-profile, professional meetings.
In her third year, Wendy’s team was invited by the United States Senate to present the results of their longitudinal study of an alcohol treatment hospital. The experience provided Wendy an invaluable opportunity to witness first-hand the awkward balance of priorities and ethics that frequently arise between academic, political, healthcare, legal, and business professionals when they come together.
During her presentation to the Senate Committee, Wendy provided information regarding research protocols and detailed outcome data. When she finished, senators asked multiple questions about the hospital’s costs, fees, and revenue, yet the efficacy of the hospital’s treatment program was barely addressed.
Wendy’s presentation at the Senate influenced a decision that has since helped millions of people, but at the time she didn’t know the extent of impact that would come. All she could think about was how the senators had been so heavily focused on money.
While her colleagues celebrated the victory, Wendy’s thoughts were fixed on a singular question:
What could happen if all organizations prioritized impact over income?
Soon after, Wendy left her job at the university and research center and secured a loan to open her first business: a brick-and-mortar, retail and service business, strategically and operationally designed as a social laboratory to test her hypothesis that businesses could be significantly more profitable if they prioritized impact over revenue.
Six months into their first year, Wendy and her team had broken industry records for revenue production and growth—all by establishing measurable impact as their top priority. As the business community witnessed her success, she began receiving offers for consulting throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
Wendy continued to develop, test, and prove dozens of strategic and operational formulas in her own business, then applied the formulas in her clients’ businesses with game-changing results. Eager to test her formulas in even more industries, Wendy sold her business to her top employee after three years, and accepted consulting and speaking opportunities nationwide.
During that time, Wendy achieved certification in three schools of psychology, further adding to the science she could apply to her strategies. She built a private practice in psychotherapy, specializing in helping sales professionals build their success by focusing on impact. Wendy’s clients broke records across multiple industries, leading to a swell of invitations for consulting, speaking and training engagements in for-profit and non-profit organizations, where she became known for building high-performance teams, loyal customers and patients, and significant revenue growth, all as the result of prioritizing impact.
Through changing social and economic conditions, Wendy consistently proved the efficacy of her formulas, many of which are copyrighted, trademarked, patent-pending, or classified as Trade Secrets. She has built multiple businesses of her own, creating countless information products, and a steady stream of innovative ideas for her clients.
Her bestselling books have become required reading in sales and manufacturing organizations, hospitals, medical practices, dental schools and non-profit organizations. Her work has been widely published in business, healthcare, and social science journals, magazines, and e-zines.
People often ask Wendy how she generates her ideas, how she keeps up her tireless pace, and where she gets her ongoing motivation. Her answer is always just three little words:
Focus On Impact
And that’s precisely what she does. Wendy wakes up every morning, looks in the mirror and asks, “Are you making the impact you want to be making?”
Her answer is always the same: “No.”
Wendy spends every day driven to expand her Journey of Impact—a journey paved with gratitude for the family, friends, mentors, colleagues, and clients she’s treasured; and the decades-long love she’s shared with the most powerful difference-maker she’s ever known: her husband, partner, best friend, and forever love, Dr. Hal Dibner.
